Slowing down

Slowing down

I've run into a bit of a problem with my 1/4" reel to reel. It'll play fine for a few seconds then start to slow down considerably (it sounds like it's running between 10 and 15%). I've checked it all over, belts and pressure rollers seem to be fine. Any ideas on what's going on here?

It's probably time for new belts and rollers, cleaned and then recalibrated. Just because the rubber parts are on there and "working" doesn't mean they're not dry /shrunk/ stretched. I would have the motor checked for proper torque and rpm as well. If it hasn't been done in the last few years of service, it's probably time again. I would look to a professional near you for service. I'll bet someone near you has recommendations.
