Photo's to recall outboard settings?

Does anyone use photo's instead of paper layouts?

I've got a digital camera I suppose the expense would be the ink, the quality of the printout would need to be good..

Cheers

Ink?

Just recall the image up on a computer screen!

We can call this 'our little secret' to save embarrassment if you want Renie!

I think you mind must be on other things like the SPL gear blowout at Stirling/Syco!!!

There are still a few studios left that don't have a computer screen embedded in every flat surface. (having a computer in my studio would remind me too much of my currnet Dilbert-like engineering day gig) And I've found that I can mark a Xerox of the control panel with a few quick pencil slashes faster than anyone can call up the file on a computer.

sometimes there is no need to change a method that works fine just because a new method exists. (the computer is great for storing the images of all the front panels, but it can't touch a pencil for quick markups)

Trying to catch me out again!!

I need hard copy baby, I don't want to be craning and squinting to see my
monitor for Christs sake...sounds dramatic........that Kultube sure is in an awkward place...

I AM embarrassed about the stirlingsyco blowout now though..can't find an embarrassed smilie though to prove it- all the red faced ones look.. hostile shall we say?

Whenever I take notes for a recall (which is rare) I grab a 58 and put a tape or CD in and blast through it. When I need to recall it's easy to listen back to the tape and reset the knobs. It's in real time both times. Doesn't get much better then that to me.

I document mixes on my Trident with a digital camera. Works so much better than an analog snapshot. I get about 16 channels top to bottom in each frame, and when recalling I can zoom in on just the EQ knobs across 4 channels or so. It helps if you add a channel indictor half way up the strip every 4 modules or so, once you zoom in they all look alike and you can get lost.
