Any Good Luck with Event 2030s?

Hey everyone, I have been hearing of a lot of problems with the event 2030 studio monitors. I thought I would start this thread to see if anyone is having good luck and is happy with them. Thanks Much

Here for the gear

Where have you heard of any issues? I'm only aware of one user complaining on here about one of the being damaged in delivery....A few others returned them due to them being too big for their rooms. That's not a 'problem' in my eyes

No problems at all here. Great monitors for the price and the pinpoint stereo image is amazing. Bass is a little 'boxy' but besides that the mids and highs are excellent. Only problem i had was a friend of mine touched one of the tweeters and dented it, they should be made a bit more idiot-proof with tweeter guards/mesh to stop that from happening. Luckily rode/event support is second to none and they quickly sent me a tweeter replacement no questions asked. Great company. Quality product...

Here for the gear

I have some on order here in Australia, have been told that Event make their speakers in production runs when stock is low, so these will be from a fresh batch. Should get them next week hopefully

Well after much complaining Event has agreed to flat out
Replace my broken monitor, only thing is they are shipping it
From America, so may take some time.

Now let,s hope they tested the replacement before they send it

Yay!

The 20/20 BAS were boxy sounding but I must say from what I hear in Australia that Rode/ Event service is exceptionally good.

Cant comment on the 2030's.

Cheers

Well good.

Event had me pack up the defective speaker and the next day a courier
Dropped off a new one and picked up the broken one.

It took a month of going back and forth to get them to get them
To do the right thing, I did show them the GS threads and that seemed
To get a fire under their arses.

The replacement has been fine so far, I,m quite happy with the 2030,s
After having a few months to actually mix with them.

They do take getting used to, but they seem to translate great
On other systems which to me is the whole point.

Actually the first time I listened to these in my studio I was not sure
What to make of them, I,d go so far as to say they totally confused my
Ears, was just not used to listening to my mixes in a tri-amp system.

Having three focal points on a monitor , instead of two takes a bit of ear
Retraining.

Because of this fiasco I picked up a set of the original BAS 20/20 v1
Just because I was so used to them, and I needed something while
Event sorted the others out.

The 20/20's never get used, Its pretty hard to believe I used them as my main
Monitors for so many years, they are sorely missing in mid-range detail
Compared to the 2030,s , like someone had scooped out the mids in comparison

I do feel that maybe Event overcompensated a little in making the 2030,s
Very mid-range present in comparison, and like others have said there is
A bit of wierdness going on in the low end mids, which can be precieved as being boxy as some described, I tweeked mine out a bit with a RTA
To get it in the ballpark.

Really with any monitor it,s just getting used to them and I,m
Used to them now and like them, hopefully they won't fail again.

One thing I don't like about the speaker design is the inability
To easily swap out the tweeter as it is soldered to the crossover
PCB, infact you can,t even take it out without desoldering it.
Seems like a really bad idea to me, as tweeters are usually the
First thing to go.

I bought my first set of 2030 like 6 weeks ago since the left tweeter kept distorting and it only got worse.
So i sent them back now i have a new set for 1 week and the left tweeter just stopped working does anyone have an idea what solves this problem ? Is it just me being unlucky with these speakers or do alot of you guys have the same problem with these speakers ? Anyway looking for alternatives to these monitors any suggestions ?

I've just turned the volume up around 70 percent and now the tweeter works again, but when i turn it back to like 40 percent it stops working again.
Anyone who has any idea what causes this problem ?
