SPL meter to measure quietness of recording space: weird response

I have a little handheld SPL meter and today I sat down to measure how quiet/loud my little project studio is under various conditions. I used both A and C weighting. I know that we use C for audio but I thought I'd try both of these as I'm not 100% clear on the use cases for each in this situation.

What confuses me is how A is able to pick up differences in the sound of the computers (+3db) but C is unable to pick any computer noise up (+0db). Which should I use?

A-Weighted and set to "fast" time weighting:
  • About 27dBA with all equipment off
  • About 30dBA w/ computer on but not heavily used, converters on, DBox on
  • About 33dBA w/ computer on and Pro Tools recording
C-Weighted and set to "fast" time weighting:
  • About 45dBC with all equipment off
  • About 45dbC with the computer on but not heavily used, converters on, DBox on
  • About 47dbC with ProTools running and recording
Which should I rely on for "noise floor" readings? My computer, while not "loud", is definitely heard in the mix position where I took the readings. I was surprised that C-weighting completely missed it's effects.

FYI: I'm using this meter - Amazon.com: GSI Quality Handheld Digital A/C Frequencies Sound Level Meter - Instant Accurate 30 To 100 dB Measurements - LCD Display And Microhone - For Musicians And Sound Audio Professionals: Home Improvement
