Today I used the AEA R84 as a vocal mic. Outstanding sound on my singer.

Very close--around 6 inches with pop screen. Singer sang an overdub with orchestra. Broadway style sound. Fantastic!

Finally put my new C700A to work, both Omni and Fig. 8 capsules on female vocals.

Apologies if you've talked about it elsewhere, but how do you like that Colares? It seems quite cool just from reading about it, like it might be a bit of a sleeper mic. Roswell's more affordable mics are certainly very well-regarded by folks who know what they're talking about.

I think I really like it lol

I’ve had it for a few months and this is really the first date I’ve used it on...

Sounds amazing... fantastic build. Great freebie rycote mount, too!

The r84 is one of my all time favorite microphones. It can record pretty much anything very well.

I have a Colares and it lives on the Ampeg flip top for bass.
Sounds really good on upright as well.

I'm testing a Digital Reference DRV200. As far as I can tell, it seems to be a re-packaged Audio Technica ATM-61HE. The frequency plots are nearly identical. Got three of them for $20 each.

It seems to have a tilt EQ to the sound favoring the top end over the bass end. Compared to an SE V7 or an SM57. But the surprising part is its a usable tone that corrects well with EQ. I'm happy with the purchase, it's not money in the toilet, these can be used.

Randomly tried a 635A > Electrodyne 501 > Audioscape V3A... sounds perfect for this artist!
