Carvin Dynamics?

I just got the new Carvin catalog and they have a new line of dynamic drum mics. Normally I wouldn't even consider it, but these mics are VERY inexpensive. I think the kick mic is like $50. Has anyone tried them, or are they too new?

I imagine they are some chinese copies of AKG or Shure, but they probably aren't as bad as those Radio Shack tom mic thingamabobs. At these prices it is almost worth gambling on them. If anyone beats me to it, report back and let me know what you think.

Here is the URL

The models are the D44 and D42

They look like those CAD dynamic mics. I'd probably skip 'em personally. A good used kick mic is about $100-150. Why skimp? I think I paid $100 for my Beta 52 and $125 for my D112. Pretty cheap as far as mics go.

I've already got a few good kick mics. So it's not so much about skimping as it is about cheap alternatives. Especially if the "tom" mics sound good. I record some real monkeys, and I'd rather not have them bashing my MD421's, ya know?

O.K....

I've heard others mention those 604's, I guess I better check 'em out. I'm still curious about those dfegadCarvins though, just cause they're cheap, doesn't mean they suck.

The 604's are cool for rack toms. I still prefer something with more beef on the floor tom like a 421, D112 or even a 414 can be cool. I also like the ATM23 and 25 on toms but don't own any.
