OddBall Studio Finds?

Howdy...

Most guitarists know that with there are some GREAT finds for vintage tones from less-than-well-known amp makers of yore...Tones from brands like Elko, National, and others rival and often surpass those from the more recognized names of Fender, Marshall, and Vox...

How about vintage mics, pres, EQs, compressors, and so forth: any off-brand stuff I should be on lookout for?

Thanks...

Dynaco PAT EQ. Someone mentioned the PAS in an article in Tape Op a while back but the PAT is the tube version. You can usually find them CHEAP.

The older analog Orban Optimods are cool. There's one I heard that was different than any of the ones I've seen on ebay that sounded way cool. If you aren't familiar, they are compressors for radio broadcast that they run everything through. Fat and not alot of artifacts.

PAT is the tube version.

Actually the Dynaco PAT preamps (PAT 4, PAT 5 ) were the
solid state versions, and the more desirable PAS (2,3,3x)
were the tube versions. I have a PAS 2 and love it to death
as a preamp in my stereo system.
