Blu-Tac; flammable? put on power tubes?

alrighty,

can anyone please tell me whether or not Blu-Tac is flammable?

or does it melt under high heat?

i ask because it would be the perfect solution to some valve base / retainer rattle problems i am experiencing with a guitar amp.

if Blu-Tac is NOT suitable for this purpose can anyone recommend me something similar that IS?

thanks,

regards,

richie.

Whether or not it's flammable, it will cause a build-up of excess heat.

Tubes need to be able to breathe freely.

I've seen these things called Vacuum Tube Dampers, but who knows if they work?

Somewhere I've seen mesh jackets that go over power tubes as well.

thanks max,

interesting concept,

but i would have to remove the valve sockets from the board and solder in those absorb-o-gel-o things instead.

bit of a pita and since its not my amp im hoping that i can fashion some sort of less intrusive and less costly solution.

but if i cant i would definitely give them a shot, pending amp owners approval and willingness to purchase of course!

anyone else?

regards,

richie.
