can you help with Aurora8/Motu896HD setup?

I've just connected my Aurora to my 896hd via adat,
and I've two problems;

1- I realise I can no longer use the main out volume on the front panel of the Motu,
since the DA is handled by the Aurora.
That means my stereo out in Cubase SX is routed to the ADAT 1-2 of the Aurora,
and the analog out of the Aurora to the monitors.
So I don't know how to handle the monitoring without buying a Big Knob (or anything similar).

2- I hear digital clicks when playing audio,
the Aurora is the clock master, and in Cubase SX I have set the clock source to be from the ADAT in. I don't know what happens.
Do I need a word clock cable to sync the two?
It says in the Motu manual that it can lock itself from the ADAT port.

Any help much appreciated,

Motu should be able to sync to adat, worked for me. Word cable will definietly work though, and is probably a better idea anyway.
