Soundtracs 16816

I was just given a Soundtracs 16816 console. It looks very OLD, but in real good shape. It is manufactured by "Soundout Laboratories Limited", Surrey, England. There is a number on it that reads TLX8951073. The "1073" caught my attention real quick! Very interesting! I need a power supply for this baby. Anyone have info on this console?

I bought one new in 82 I think it was. It's had probably a dozen different owners. I happen to run across it a year or so ago. Bought it, cleaned it up and it works great. I've always liked the EQ. It requires a +-17V Power supply. Pain in the butt to work on cause it's not a modular chassis. Full of TL07x and 553x ics.

PM me if you have any questions or you decide to get rid of it.

I'm pretty sure you can use a power supply from one of their later large format consoles.
I can help you with the pinouts and wiring if you find one.

Good luck and I'll keep my eyes open for one.

Some additional information:

The TLX number refers to a pre-fax communications medium (TELEX).

The channel , aux, mon and sub strips are on individual circuit boards which are attached to the top of the desk via the pots. The direct outs (if equiped) are mounted on the back and have short connections to the channel strips. The power supply leads from the rear panel jack to the cards is very short. The cards extend just under the lip on the rear and can be broken if not careful (trust me, i've done it). The LEDS in the meters on the subs have a habit of doing weird things, but it was that way soon after I bought it originally. Much of the circuit topolgy is very similar, if not the same to the Soundtracs Quartz large format console.

I keep thinking of stuff....
Aux2 can be made pre or post fader via solder jumpers on each channel strip.
All the ic's are socketed.

Hope this helps,

Jack

Thank you for your help, Jack. I think I'm going to hang on to this one for the moment. It'll be a lot of fun, resurrecting it back to working order. The telex "1073" must be one hell of a coincidence. Really had me going for a minute. Looks like it has some great, quality manufacturing though. I'm really looking forward to running some audio through it. It's just been miserableheh , looking at the console, and not being able to fire it up. Another toy! err "project"
