SPL PQ 'Mastering EQ'

Digital Storability. Constant Q, or Not. Remote controlable. Linkable for Suroundsoud (like I'll ever buy 3 of these mofos) 10 Hz - 100 kHz, in case you are doing records for dogs. Anyone check this dousey out from Sound Performance Lab? Is it commercially avaible yet?

I wonder if it's hardwear muscle makes it stomp plug ins into the dirt...

I call Brad Blackwood to the witness stand!

Yeah, they're commercially available (at a mere $20k US each...). These guys have 3 of them in their mastering room: (enough for 5.1).

I haven't heard them (yet - I'm working on it) but they use SPL new SUPRA-OpAmps running at 120volts(!!!). The specs look amazing, but only the ears will tell whether or not SPL nailed it...

So is it that much better than a GML and an assistant (=remote and storability)? I don't even think it's a "wait till I hit the lottery" piece of gear. That's just a dfegad load for an eq.

You could build a "Spider Console" for that price. But I can't front, I'm dying to check it out.

No sir - that's what these guys seem to think it's worth...

They want $60k US for their mastering console...

I'll stick with the Crane Song on both accounts, thankyouverymuch.

SPL-USA MSRP on the PQ is $11,999.00 amd the MMC1 is a mere $69,900.00... Ouch

With prices like these, the cool modular stuff from Crockwood (and the discontinued Focusrite Blue 300 Mastering Console) seems almost like bargains!

Strange, I've never thought of SPL as being a high end build. Maybe it's because I got my stereo Vitalizer for $140 on blowout.

A non-motorized version is out that runs around $6,500 (the cheapest I've seen mastering version was for $10,000). I guess Brad was right about the Crane Song thing. Not such a bad deal after all.

I tried out the Mastering version briefly, and yes, it is sickeningly awesome. I thought the Q's sounded especially cool (the constant Q switchability is accommodating). If they offered it at the non-motorized price, no doubt I'd be hard pressed not to swap one up.

Doesn't look like I'll make AES as this point. Someone try to A/B the mastering and non-motorized version and post your results, no matter how limited they may be here.
