What gear gets the least use?

Ok have some gear that basically serves as rack space filler cause I never use it...

zoom 9010 - could be good for all I know It's been sitting there for years and I forgot I even had it

EMU E-synth - just got Emagic EXS/Kontact is on order...nuff said...

Casio FZ 20m---now I hear people still want this thing cause of the sound but it only has like 2 megs of ram..

Tascam Patchbay: I have never used a patchbay..i just run everything into my mackie..but I am giving that the boot so when i get all my pre's together i guess i better hook it up...errr what does TT mean by the why?

Protools 442: I keep this to remind me how many thousounds of dollars I have put into protools throughout my life and how much that is currently worth (442 I think was 5 grand...I assume it is worth about $50 now...)

I think we all have gear like that. I trimmed most of the fat around here so just about everything gets used at least a few times a year. The things that get the least amount of use are probably the Midiverb 4 and SPL Vitalizer. I could probably sell both of those and not miss them but once in a while they come in handy.

Cementmix... err, Symetrix 511A single ended noise reduction (what was I thinking!)

BBE 802

Mac 650 Quadra and a pile of various peripherals

Otari 2 track (MX-50?)

2 channels of Dolby SR

odds and ends of out-of-alignment cd players, jammed dat machines that I'm just too lazy to fix...

over here :

Joe Meek enhancer, can't even remember if when it was last turned on.

PCM 91 .... with the TC 6000 and the 960 around ....

Matrix 1000 .... come to think of it .... liked it a lot .... should start using it again.

DAT Panasonic 3700 ... very rare.

Sony MD ... even more rare

Pioneer double tape/cassette deck ... don't even know if it still works.

SSL 9K .... can't even remember where I put that one.

the rest is in regular use

The only items in my rack that I seldom use (that is, less than once a year) are my dbx 160A's. I hadn't used my Manley EQ's for a good while, but decided to try them on kick and bass on the last project I mixed. They're back in the 'regular use' category now.

And my 414ULS mics pretty much have sayed in their boxes for the last few years...

Any of our digital reverbs.
Been using plate and natural only. Once you get used to natural and the plate . . . digital seems to be a paint across the track . . NEVER an organic part of the sound. In my view.

I need to get myself motivated enough to get on ebay and sell all the stuff I'm not using and buy something fun with the money. I got......

Mackie 1202
Dbx 166
Dbx 386
2 rode NT 1's
MXL 67
shure beta 52
a bunch of tuchel connectors

The stuff is sitting in a closet with an old peavey guitar amp and a ton of cracked cymbals.

9 rack spaces of tape transports that seldom roll:
Panasonic SV-3700 DAT
Alesis adat XT
Denon DN-770R dual cassette
They sit and wait for the odd transfer job.

My Lexicon LXP-1, LXP-5, and MRC haven't been touched in over a year either.

I have one of those Behringer Toob Pre Amps in my racks which is a nice 250$ Rackfiller - looks really nifty but sounds like shit...never used it in over a year. I also have an ADAT LX 20 which is just filling up rack space....

Haven't used my Tascam MS-16 1" 16 track in forever. I should sell it, I need a Masterlink.

Also no longer used:

Yamaha SPX90
Aphex 612 Gate
Mac Performa 6200 (piece of junk! Never ran right!!)

-- and, uh oh.... my 1.5 ghz Dell PC! I haven't recorded into Samplitude for eons now. So the Hammefall card in the PC isn't being used either...

I cleaned house around the begining of the year so I don't have anything around that I won't use at least a few times a year. Actually, I have a little Pignose amp that I reamp whacky stuff through. Haven't used it since last summer. Come to think of it, I haven't used my Reamp since last summer either... sure won't let it go though.

You wouldn't have tuchel connectors for a Telefunken v72 and v376 would you?

I've been feeling the same way. Not that I have a plate hanging around, but I've been using room, hallway and stairway reverb lately. To me, digital reverb can sound like 'noise that resembles ambience' sometimes.
