Got some time on my hands...

As some of you may know I teach 'Audio/Video Technology' at a high school and with school now (finally) being out I have some time of my hands to tinker and toy with things. I know how people really like to actually hear the gear before they buy so maybe I can help with some of these combinations. So, I am listing everything that I have presently and in italics what is on order and should be here shortly. For example if there is a particular mic/pre/comp. combination that you want to hear I can hook you up. Plus it will be good listening examples for the kids next year. Throw out anything including mic positions etc. etc. We just got a brand new Pearl Masters Custom which sounds freaking unreal!!

For now only request items which are currently here (non italics) and as new stuff comes in I'll let you know. I'm just listing everything so you can be thinking up your wish lists.

Keep me busy this summer! I'll post audio examples as fast as possible with pictures in the case of people wanting specific mic positions.

That's really cool of you to offer your time like that! Nice setup for a home studio I must say.

I'd love to get your thoughts on the Germanium (when it comes in) for vocals - with say your favorite tube mic, and also with one of your dynamics... maybe compared to the Great River.

I'd say you'll be running most of your vox through the vipre, but if you have time to put some vox through the germ and the gr that'd be great.

Any vocal style would be interesting... just to get a feel for it.

Cheers and thanks for your efforts.

nice! i'll play!

love to hear a smooth, pleasing male voice singing into the ak47 and the ifet7 into the fearn into the 1176, squozen to intimacy but not aggression.

same thing with each mic as a room mic on a kit, into the fearn, squished by the tg-1 until i can taste the splat.

basically, i want to hear what those 2 mics are about.

extra points for pushing the fearn like a man.

thank you!!!

yeah! now this is what education is all about! I'll get on the tests with the gear I have right now and as soon as this other starts rolling in I'll post on that as well.

Oh, and the comment about 'extra points for driving the Fearn like a man'... you must really know that pre because thats not an easy thing to do with a lot of mics!

Keep the requests coming!

How do you like the Telefunken AK47 and what applications do you use it for.
