GAP Pre73 and EQ73

Anybody using the EQ73?
Has anybody done the free 'TRS mod' (no additional parts) to make the original Pre73 compatible with EQ73?

I'm considering the mod since the EQ looks really nice and combo'd with the Pre73 probably sounds awesome.

Would like to hear from anyone using the PRE73/EQ73 pair.

I have a pair of stock Pre-73 MK II's. Haven't felt the need to add the eq or comp.

Sometimes run them thru a Pro VLA II and they sound really nice that way. Actually, they almost always sound pretty good with or without the comp.

I have no problem doing any eq'ing ITB, or just adjusting mic positions to get the sound I want.

The eq might be more important to me if I wanted to mix through them.

Sometimes I use an inline pad on the output so I can drive the output tranny a little harder and still control the output level. Can get some interesting sounds this way. More Neve color.

I understand the new DLX model comes with that feature (built in output pad) and better tranny's. I would be more interested in getting the DLX model than adding the eq to these.

Others will have different opinions. YMMV.
