How is the Mackie HRS120 sub?

Hi,

Looking for a good sub for my Dynaudio BM6a's to run in 2.1.
The Dynaudio 14s is a bit out of my budget so I was looking at the more affordable Mackie HRS120.
On spec it should do the business- how does it sound/function in your studio?

Cheers,

James

I've put the Mackie sub into three different environments at the uni where I work: two octaphonic rooms and one 5.1 room. The largest room had 8 ADAM S3As, the smaller one 8 Dyn BM6As, and the 5.1 room were all Mackie 626 (ugh) with the sub. I think it's a great piece of gear: very tight bass and it reaches very, very low. For the money I don't think you could go wrong though there may be other/better options out there.

Hi Vuk, thanks for the response.
That is great- I am looking at going 5:1 at some point.
What crossover point did you use?

Do you get appreciatably more headroom on the BM6a's?
