Duet 2 with Slim Phatty Synth

I feel like such a noob asking this, but I just wanna make sure I am doing this right...

I got my first audio interface about a week ago. I've been using it just for D/A but now I want to hook up my outboard gear to it, my moog slim phatty.

Now here's where I am having trouble. There are four settings for the input "level":

+4 dBu
- 10 dBv
Mic
Inst

Now obviously I wouldn't choose "Mic", but for some reason I think it should be -10 dBv or +4 dBu? But whenever I set it to either of those settings, I get no sound... The only thing that works for me is the "Inst" setting. But isn't that for guitars and stuff? The software is Apogee Maestro 2.
