+4 unbalanced out going in +4 balanced in..

wondering how much quality, if any, I am losing by taking a +4 unbalanced output out of a mixer going in to a +4 balanced xlr input on an a/d converter? Im using quite short cables.

What mixer and what A/D converter?

Under 2meters of cable? shouldn't be any issue as long as both units are plugged into the same electrical circuit.

If you are not getting any unwanted noise, don't worry about it. Unbalanced signals arguable are better, because the balancing circuitry is additional circuitry and generally that means more noise and distortion ... so unbalanced can be cleaner and technically better. However ... unwanted external noise, especially in long cables, is the reason we tolerate this necessary evil.

good to know, actually it sounds great.. sounds like the levels are matched and I can't hear any noise.

None - that is perfectly fine... in fact, the "unbalanced" units will usually sound better than balanced ones.

Peace
