Milab BDM 01 kick drum

upon receiving my Milab BDM 01 condenser kick drum mic I was thrilled to test it out and compare it to my sennheisser e902 (200 euro) Looking at the price of the Milab (610 euro) I was expecting a lot. Although when I compared it to the e902 I was very very dissapointed. I know the kick drum itself wasn't too good and neither was my interface (mbox) but you would expect something. Both mics were placed halfway the kick and I tried some several other positions but I couldn't find a sound that was satisfying from the Milab. Maybe I should try it on a better kick drum but still in all though ?

Anyone who has experience with this mic and can give me some tips on placement/usage (maybe in conjuction with another kick drum mic) or styles of music it would be usefull for on a kick drum, tips would be greatly appreciated.

if not and you are considering buying one, think about it again. Once I find a good kick drum and test it over a proper preamp I will update this thread.

....... Yes, a bad sound. Looks like the BDM did exactly what it was supposed to do. I have the BDM microphone and it has become one of my favorite mics because it actually gives you the sound of the instrument.

You should definitely try this microphone with some better gear than you listed above if you are going to make a public recommendation. Microphone placement is never the exact same from drum to drum, but it is key to a great sound. I find that I can capture the actual differences in bass drums with this microphone over most of the other newer "BD" microphones.
