Using ME-1NV: too hot?

The ME-1NV got in a few days ago, and I had the time to play a few times with it. It sounds great and beautiful, however I noticed that the output signal is very hot... the output button has to be almost completely to the left, and I have to keep the input stage quite low as well, which is annoying since most of the coloration is supposed to come from the input stage... so I can't really enjoy all the possibilities of the little beast.

Is there any solution to this problem? Am I missing something?

Thanks for any suggestion!

Which output are you using, XLR or 1/4"? Try the XLR if you are not already using it. Also, check the settings on your soundcard, are you using the +4 or -10 input setting (if you have a choice). Try using the +4.

I have the same unit and I don't have that problem. Does the output LED light up to the max ? when you turn output knob counter-clockwise does it change the output LED, if there is no change then the unit might be defective.
