Setting up Parallel Compression on a Ghost?

The auxilaries and sub groups are all used up so:

Would this work?

To mult the kick and snare on a Soundcraft Ghost - could you use the direct outs of those two channels and then back in the tape returns of two spare channels?

And then put a couple of compressors across the inserts of the two new drum channels - and use those as the parallel compression channels?

Thanks,

Woods

Yes, it works.

I use dir outs as sends all the time when I run out of auxes and buses.

It will probably be post-fader so level changes would affect the compressor. Unless the Ghost has a "pre-fader" switch for the dir out, I have no xperience with that console.
