Restoring/modding a mixing board

Hello fellow slutz! I was hoping someone might be able to give me some advice!

I recently acquired a samick sm1600 mixer at a garage sale, and although it's not anything special, I was wondering if it's possible to turn it into something special! Currently it is fully functional, but has problems most likely due to its age and lack on maintenance.

Here's a list of the issues it has that I can recall off the top of my head:

All of the line inputs and mic inputs clip very easily even when the input is trimmed back as far as it will go.

It has a fairly high level of static in the output stage, both on the monitor outputs, and the headphones

Various knobs and faders are slightly noisy.

Even though these problems are there, I find a few channels on it to be tolerable and they seem to have a nice character to them. My goal is to bring this thing up to a good spec, and if it's not too difficult for a DIY project, I'd love to be able to enhance its sound and integrate it into my home studio as a summing mixer (if that's possible) I can post pics of that will help anyone with advising me in this endeavor.
