Mix my tracks! (Just for fun)

Hi everyone,

I'm mixing a couple songs right now, and I figured that it'd be fun to see how other people would mix my stuff.

So here it is: Tracks for a 35 second snippet of one of the songs.
http://www.simvez.com/tracks.zip (48mb)
TRACKS WERE REMOVED.. SEE https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showthrea...362#post732362
Tempo is 90
48k, 24bits

If anyone is up to the challenge, just post an mp3!
I'm curious to see what other people's creativity could achieve with these ruff tracks, and with no background information about it.

I'm opened to anybody, whether it be a bedroom studio with a pair of Tapco speakers, or any high-end facility with an SSL and a million bucks of outboard.

Thanks for taking the time, if you do it!
Best
Simon

Wow! Very exciting and informative to hear peoples creative takes on the mix. Every one has a slightly different personality. JonCraig - a lil heavy on buss compression for my tastes (for this style) but what beautiful guitar tones and round bumpin' bass! Tgrokz - nice move with the dub style delays on the drums.

This is fun! - I'm going to have to give it a go.

Hey pretty cool, I didnt think it'd generate that much replies. BIG THANKS to everyone.

JonCraig: yours is my favorite up to now, especially for the cajon!
The only thing I'd change in your mix is the electric guitar, i'd cut the high mids and flood it with reverb like djui5 did.

I'm off for the weekend, I can't wait to check back on this thread in 2 days.

ps - the tracks are 48k, so don't forget to bounce your mp3 as 44.1

Thanks! I just put it in the secret oven!

Really, I didn't do anything special. It was mixed ITB in Logic with various outboard compressors, no analog buscompression. Glad you like it!

Yep, Mr. Mathijs. Yours is the best so far. Made me realize that I had brittle set on overkill. That's what I get for attempting to mix past my bedtime. tutt

I must say that I've learned a lot from this little exercise. thumbsup

Thanks! I like this little exercise as well. Very nice piece of music!
I usually get to work with "less then stellar recorded " stuff. Great fun to work on well done recordings for a change! Has been learnful for me too
