I have a pair of 550A reissues and a 560 reissue. The 550A's are quite easy to use, especially compared to more surgical parametric EQ's, but the 560 only takes a second to setup so it's even easier to use while tracking. They both sound great. Never used a 550B.

I have a 550b and a 550 clone by MAP. I only use these for kick and snare. Everything else I track flat to tape. No EQ. heh

This is certainly general, but I find the 550's more bold, and the 560's sound more natural. Personally, I find I can also get something that I like with the 560's much more quickly.

I have a 550b that I use in line to track bass. I generally don't track with eq for anything else though. I'll use it as an insert later on during mixing.

For tracking what, though?

Guitars? 560...

Vocals? 550a or b....

Depends on what we are tracking!
