ampeg B15R. note volume.

I have an ampeg B15R and its doing a strange thing.
A notes (5th fret E string) are about half the volume of D notes (10th fret E string).

What's going on!
it's not the guitars(they all do it)
It's not the room (other bass amps fine), this is the second speaker I've had in this amp and the other was the same so it's not the driver.
I've tried de coupling the thing from the floor.
I've even ratchet strapped the top to the cab to see if it was a poor seal.

But whatever I do it's still the same.

Any ideas?

OK, this is a stretch, but I have heard bout problems like this and filter caps on the power supply. Do a search on the web on this subject. I just heard this story at our AES meeting during NAB a week or so ago. The story had to do with the B being weak(unlike your A), and after calculating wavelength and harmonics, blah blah... the guy changed one of the power supply caps to the requested values and the artist was much happier. I got a chuckle out of this as I couldn't see this causing the guys problem - neither could the guys that were called to fix the amp. But, they did what the client asked and apparently it helped.

there's a famous bassist trying to help the poor seals heh

seriously back to the issue at hand, there were several B-15 posts to be found here.....one by me and gearslutz were very generous with good advice so I'd start with a search.

You also will want to comb this site from a to z:
