Protools LE 7.1 MAXIM

Does your PT LE Maxim look like this?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Digidesign-ProToo...QQcmdZViewItem

Because mine doesn't, mine doesn't have the meter and my dither and POWr are only to able to selected in a seperate insert? Is this normal?

The version in that picture looks exactly like the one I'm using with PT 5.1.

Mine looks like that, too. I think there's only ever been one version, so you should be able to upgrade to that.

Or is there some other reason that it wouldn't be displaying those options?

You can check the version number by looking in the Plugins folder.

If you're on a mac, it's:

Applications/Digidesign/Pro Tools/Plugins/...

Mine says v: 1.9, but I'm on PTLE 6.9.2

[why don't all plugins show you the version number in the GUI?]

I have an extra license, and I'd sell it to you for less than that, but I don't recommend it. It's a dud. It's noisy. If you put signal into one side of a stereo Maxim and listen to the other side, you'll hear "crunch, crunch, crunch".

I don't think I want that in my audio.

Better idea: Get Finis from Elemental for around $80. It's on special right now. Also not the best software limiter out there, but cheap.

"****magnet" ??? HAHA

Anyway, I went to the plug in folder, looked at the .dpm file but it doesn't say much. All I know is that my MAXIM looks much barer than this one. A guy on the pro tools forum told me that my is the same thing, but it still isn't sitting well with me....

I forgot to check the track name before I put it up there.

I use pretty odd track names if I'm the only person that's gonna be in there.

When you get to the PT plugins file, do a 'get info' on the application so you can see the version number:

(on mac, you right click on the icon, or control-click to bring up a contextual menu, then choose 'get info'.)

Ok I checked that and it says I have vers 1.9

Why would I get an old version like that for PT LE 7.1????
Are there any free upgrades?

Shift/PrintScreen... open MSPAINT.exe and EDIT/PASTE. Now crop the part you want and EDIT/SAVE COPY. Assuming you are on PC of course.

apple+shift+4 for a scrren cap of a specific area. (It gives you cross hairs and you just draw a box around it)

apple+shift+3 for the whole screen

More better than PC!!!

Hmm.. Audiosuite Vs. Realtime insert maybe?

Fuzzface777 it sounds to me like you are using the audiosuite version and not the realtime plugin on the channel strip. Under the audiosuite menu mine looks like what you are saying.. no meter ect but if i add it to a channel using inserts it looks like the screen captures that have been posted.

apple+shift+4 - then hit the space bar and you get a camera icon that will highlight any open window; click on the window and that's what you capture. brilliant!

You win the plushy!

I dunno why I didn't think of that. Yes, that's gotta be why his version of Maxim looks different.

I never, but never use Audiosuite, so I never think of it.

One of the things that's a pisser to me is that settings don't usually translate straight across from AS to RTAS.

"Missing the authorization code" means you don't "have maxim".

Oh gawd I hope you're kidding.

"we have the car, at least it's parked out in front of our apartment, but we don't have the keys or the title."

Now I'm gonna say something I shouldn't. The Massey Limiter blows maxim's sh*t away and the demo version works without dropouts. Don't say I never gave you anything.

Anyway, hardware is always better than software, so I suggest you steal an Alan Smart C2 or something.
