I get there by not beeing analytical at all.
I just go for the vibe and the flow of the song, until I feel it come alive.
That will bring out the natural dynamics of the song. I exaggerate if necessary.
Not scared to move stuff around a bit.
I can be analytical if there are major problems to solve, other than that it's all about the flow of the song.
It's more important than ever today when most people don't seem to play anything INTO the next part. Most stuff comes in packs of 8 bars...
Playing throughout the whole song with at least one or two of the instruments would help a lot stike stike stike
And you can always ride the master fader a bit. heh
