TEAC A-1200 reel to reel

Hi all, today I was presented with an opportunity to purchase one. It's in perfect working order and I've been researching it on the web all afternoon. If I got it, my plan would be to use it to bounce a final stereo mix to tape- then back to digital.

The seller is asking $150 and it comes with a separate black box, some sort of dbx dolbly noise reduction system.

Anyone have suggestions? Would this be a good unit for what I am looking to do with it? Not sure how hard it would be to find parts when it needs it.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

That's too much and it is way too old. Get a younger TEAC.

get one with the built in dolby

you really dont want to mess with the outboard units getting all the levels right and calibrating it etc.

but if you just want the old tape soudn then forget the dolby and just use it. 150 is not bad for a working deck. you will need to buy a reel of new tape though.

but why do you want to do this at all?
what do you think it will do for your sound?
