Getting a decent Pre-Amp?

Hi there,

First post on the forum so I'd like to say a quick hello!

Basically my question is that I've bought an AKG C414 Microphone but I'm stumped as to what Pre-Amp I should get?

My Budget is £300 Max but under £250 would be prefered!

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Lives for gear

hey
tough to get a pro preamp for that price. but its possible. if id be you i would look at old broadcast gear. basically any german preamp that has a *76 ending. v276, v 676 etc (the v676 is a favourite). you will need to feed them 24volts. which is easy when buying some telefunken, siemens, etc power supply. connect them and you'll have a super pro preamp for a super low price. other than that i cant think of "out of the box" pro preamp for that price.

if you decide to go that route just browse german ebay regularly. read into the topic and make a wise buy when it comes along. feel free to pm me for help...

Golden Age Pre-73 (1073 clone). That's where it's at ;-)

I actually JUST did a post about this comparing it to the Vintech 473. Sounds REALLY close!
