Arturia The Factory vs The Laboratory

Hey gang,
This is a thread specifically driven towards owner of this gear. I'm looking at getting a lower cost synth solution/midi controller for my home studio. I'm a guitar player so the 'playability' of the keyboard isn't of the most critical nature. My question is whether the extra $80 for the Laboratory (so access to the pads and the scenes feature) is worth it. If there is another option like the Arturia that is easy to use and sub $400, I'm open to that as well. Thanks!

Hi,

Here is Denis from Arturia. Just wanted to underline another major difference in between the Factory and Laboratory (apart from the number of keys), it is the ability of the Laboratory to open the individual Arturia synths and tweak them in depth. You need to own the individual synth...but I think it's a fantastic feature!

All the best,

Denis

I've got the lab.

The pads are terrible, I never use them. Scenes are nice though.

The ability to tweak the software is great "in depth" is great - but if you don't own the individual emus it's not exactly a selling feature.
