Beyerdynamic TG V90r

The TG V90r came out earlier this year. Any feedback yet? [Edit:] I found a review, with audio samples!

It pops, and the proximity effect doesn't seem too clean. It sounds better at a distance; for that reason, and because of its weight, it'd certainly work better on a stand than as a hand-held mic. But I'm only judging from audio samples.

Thanks for sharing that.

For anyone interested, here's the English Translation: Google Translate

Note that the Audio Samples ("Audiobeispiele") won't load in the translated version of the page.

Have you tried it on different sources?

Besides guitar I´ve tried it on several singers but didn´t find it to be very helpful in that situation because of the huge proximity effect. But I´d not generalize that statement. It´s a mic that needs to be used a lot by a singer to learn at which distance it produces which sound. Without training results may vary too much at LF. Mid and treble range is very nice, though. It certainly delivers the ribbon beauty. Just not the right mic to get fast results from lesser expierienced singers.

What kind of sounds? Clean, ultra-distorted, twangy, overdriven etc?

I've got one on the way and will weigh in shortly on what I think of it for main vocals.

Clean, crunch, OD all day long. I haven´t used it on ultradistorted signals simply because I don´t record this type of music.

Would love to hear someone review or shoot out this mic next to an M500.
