Anyone familiar with R-Bus to TDIF?

I've had a Roland VM-C7200 mixer for years and today while behind one of my racks I discovered that it has the expanded 3 R-Bus outs. Sadly I never knew that it did. I have a few Roland TDIF-AT interfaces boxes, as well as a bunch of R-Bus cable from my old VS2480 set-up.

My question is I'm considering using the V-Mixer for all my synth and drum machine overflow. I'd love to use 16 channels of R-Bus into TDIF into my MOTU 2408 MK3's TIDIF ports. My question is whats the latency with R-Bus to TDIF like? I had considered dumping the V-Mixer system and getting a Tascam DM3200 to get the 3 TDIF outs but if the R-Bus is reliable then I'll just save myself the money and hassle and use these. I'm guessing the Tascam's Pre's are equally as unimpressive and since its for synths I'm not that concerned.

Love to hear some opinions with those that have used R-Bus to T-DIF before. Thanks!
