URGENT: Looking for analog studio in Nashville/Memphis/Vegas

Hi guys,

I'm going to the US on vacation from 9/20 to 6/10. I had some unexpected bookings this week and I couldn't finish some mixes I had planned for my own band.

Since we have a tight deadline, I was thinking about booking a studio over there to do it. It's just 2 songs, so I think a day will be sufficient.

I'm staying in Nashville until the 23rd and then in Memphis until the 24th. After that I'm heading to Las Vegas with no fixed route.

I was hoping you could recommend some studios that I can check out.

The studio can be in Nashville (if I can book it for 9/22 or 9/23) or Memphis (for 9/24). I can also book any studio that's on the way to Vegas.

Now here's the fun part:

Since this project is all analog, I need a medium sized studio with a 2'' 24 track in good condition, a mixing desk (doesn't need to be huge - 24, 36 inputs), some cool outboard and a mixdown deck (1/4'' would be great).

Budget is tight because this is an unexpected expense.

I'm not looking for a fancy place, I kinda prefer the "indie" vibe (whatever that is).

Does anybody have any advice when it comes to flying with a reel of tape? Do you think I can carry it on the plane and ask for a hand inspection at the border? Those metal detectors and conveyors seem to be a nice way to damage the recordings.

Thanks a lot!

Joao

That would be my first choice yeah, but I assume Chris is busy with the upcoming Tape Camp that starts on the 24th.

I'll shoot him and email anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, I'd love to hear some more.

Thanks again guys.

Ardent looks great but it might be a little overkill for this particular project.

I emailed Chris Mara and I think we can do it on the 22nd.

Fry at Ardent is a good guy and has the ability to maybe make your project work if finances are an issue. They have a pair of Neve V series; an SSL 6000 with a Studer A827 24 track that floats.
