interface with hardware

I'm looking in to a new interface because the mbox2 does not have the ability to route to the lunchbox. I need to know if that is just a feature of the mbox2 or if it just doesn't have a certain number of outputs or inputs.

In other words, how many analog inputs and analog outputs are needed to run audio from DAW to interface to lunchbox compressor; back to interface;back to DAW and used as a "hardware insert" in protools 7.3

If it's only stereo you're dealing with, you can just route out the Main 1-2 of the Mbox and rerecord with the inputs.

the mbox2 has a left and right mono out. I tried one of them with a TRS to XLRM cable to the lunchbox and it made a horrible noise.

Additionally, I read that with other interfaces protools has a "hardware insert" option that appears.
