Fireface 800 Which Entry?

do i want to connect my macbook through the fireface 400 or the fireface 800 entry in the back?

basically the 9pin or the 6 pin (i think it's called).

Both should work fine but I'd use the ff 800 if you have one

Here for the gear

It doesn't matter because it won't be any faster with the Firewire 800 connection. The FW800 port is thought for daisy-chaining purposes with several Firefaces or the Fireface and then FW harddisks. (RME stated that in their forum)

So if you want to chain harddisks after the interface, go for the 800. If not, it doesn't matter.

Yes, if you have a heavy raid or similar HD setup use the ff 800 for that
-that is the interface connected to the other and hard drives to the other
