I find that busses have more sibilance than buses, but maybe it's just me. Anyhoo, ultimately, since we in the US make way more of the really crappy music everyone loves, most of the time anyway, I figure we have the right to set the terminology standards.

OK. I went for a little ride and since I was near the studio I picked up my copy of the Audio Cyclopedia.
It is the second edition, 1969 printing.

Didn't take too long to find a reference to "bridging bus" in the mixer section that led me to other mentions including:
"What is the procedure for calculating the impedance of a bridging bus and it's terminating resistor?"
section 24.35, page 1578.
I would guess the term to be the same in the first edition printed 1959 and if someone has that edition they could see if this is the case.

You're right Rick. US electrical terminology dating right back to the beginning of the 1900's .. From "Electrical Bus Bar" ..
