Bass Combo Amp

Hi I am looking to get a bass combo amp for under 700$. I was looking at the Ampeg BA-300/115 and it seemed like a good choice. I play an Ibanez Sr-700. I was wondering how good an amp this is, or if there is other bass combo amps I should check out.

What type of tone are you looking to achieve? Each amp is going to have slightly different coloration. Ampeg is definitely going to have more "vintage" coloration, but you may find yourself happier buying an overdrive pedal than being stuck with a permanently colored amp.

For $700, you're pretty limited on choices for a quality new amp. You'll find yourself with a lot better options if you consider purchasing used. talkbass.com is a really good resource for information as well as an honest place to purchase used gear through classifieds.

Please, in the name of God try the Ashdown ABM C410-500 EVO II. You may find one used for around that price. Do not be fooled by the MAG series, it is not as powerful.

Bass Combo Amp

I personally find them tacky and atrocious looking, but I've been really impressed with the performance of the small Mark Bass combos I've heard people playing through. For half the weight of my Euphonic Audio combo, they keep up. If I could just get past the Halloween cosmetics.

Do you mean the yellow and black speaker? Kinda looks like a DeWalt!

2nd the Ashdown vote, they are pretty cool amps. Not as cool as some of the Ampegs, but you get much more amp for the money imo.

I always liked the Gallien Kruger stuff, and they have a nice looking combo out but not tried it.

I have a black amplifier(Ampeg) and a grey amplifier (GK). Both do well, but the ampeg does the "tube overdrive" tone better and the GK does the clean headroom tone better. The reports I've heard on the VT pedal by Tech 21 suggest I may be hauling around the much more expensive and much heavier head around for no good reason.
