Help! Is my MXR Pitch-Shift Doubler Working Properly?

Is anybody familiar with this unit? It's the black 1u version from the 80's. 1 input, 2 outputs.

Output 1 sounds nice, but output 2 only passes signal in bypass mode. Should I be getting a stereo effect, or is this a mono unit?

I just bought it from an online retailer. Hopefully, I can send it back if I have to...

Any info is appreciated!

I don't know for sure, but I would certainly expect it to output the dry signal at all times, otherwise it isn't a doubler.

My guess from what you've described is that a switch or wire has broken. If the pitch shifter works in mono, the basic circuit must be ok. I wouldn't expect another pitch shifter on the second output, simply a clone of the input so you get a big stereo spread.

There are people selling schematics for these if necessary.

It's a mono pitchshifter - but it should give a stereo output. As in, dry on one side with a slight pitch shift on the other side. Like early Boss chorus effects.

If the dry signal is only there in bypass mode, I suspect something is broken that should be fairly easy to fix.

It's going back after all

I ran the unit a few hours today and the effect started cutting in and out.

So back it goes.

I still must say, nice sounding unit...when it's working. -10db though.

Thanks again to those who replied!
