Where is the line?

Hello to All - New here - been lurking for a while - Great Forum!

There are clearly alot of industry veterans here so i thought I would pose this simple question(s)

1). What seperates a "home studio" from a "project studio"? Is it gear? Owner experience and capabilities? Facility size and/or treatments?

2). What in your mind is the "ideal" role for the project studio in any given production process.

The reason I ask is that I am primarily a musician who records my own stuff. I have been at the home studio level for some time now and have accumulated some decent mid-level gear. I have it in my mind that I would like to do some work for hire but I am certainly not looking at or ready to be recording full bands and trying to take them to CD.

Just looking for some general feedback

Thanks - I will definitely keep reading and learning!!

I was thinking more multimedia projects - A/V, Composition for Plays and live Dance performances - Songwriter projects and or demos - That kind of thing
