Thiele M4 & PGH Eletro-Medizin & Vakuum-Technik M4 - info needed

Hi,

perhaps you know the "Thiele M1, 4 and M5 Studio" tube condenser microphones, which have been made in Leipzig in the 1950's.

Recently I've also seen the attached version of the "PGH Eletro-Medizin & Vakuum-Technik".

Does somebody know,

- if these 2 company existed parallel to each other or
- if the company Thiele changed it's firm name or
- if the Thiele company has been disappropriated ?

Thanks in advance.

I got a Thiele M4 for some time...it was mods so that the psu is not
inside the mic anymore and also there is a huge output transfo now so that the mic is low-z now.
This mic is amazing, the double sides capsule definatly look like Neumann at the time (late 50)...the mechanical push button to get cardioid or omni it quite unusual and there is even a small bulb light that is nice on the eye...the look of this mic is gourgous and so the sound. Its big, smooth and got some presence...i did some acoustic guitar and vocal with it for now and it's good from smooth blusy tone and also amazing on screamer...it's the best mic i've been listening in my life except for a Neumann U47 with nuvistor...if you are after the german mic sound of the late 50 and 60 this one will get u there without the hi price tag being less famous and having to get mod...its still a sleeper, before i wrote thoses lines...
