Prob a dumb "noob" question.....

If Pro Tools has the HD rig with the hardware for processing power (DSP?) what hardware can I buy to use with my Logic+Metric Halo ULN-2 rig to free the computer from all the processing?

why do you want to "free" your computer from processing? Thats his job! That is what you probably bought it for. If you're missing processor-power go for a new cpu, if RAM, go for RAM and so on.

There are some soulutions that will use dsps (powercore, UA, ssl duende) to process special plugIns running on these devices.
But there is not such a thing like an universal HDrig for every DAW software.

You already have alot of DSP power in your ULN-2. I think the Halo plugins sound really good.

The new UAD satellite has firewire so you can use it with your iMac.
