Pretty straight forward, what would you pick?

LDC
SDC
Dynamic
Ribbon

(if you'd like to add a category, or include sub categories, let me know)

Thanks!

Tube SDC's. A whole set of Neumann KM53's and 54's would do just fine.

Failing that I suppose I'd settle for a whole swagger of Tube LDC's. Some U47's, U67's, C12's & 251's

Probably an old school 414, no hype and you could pretty much hammer it into anything you want...and it has multi patterns.

You did say ONE, right?

It's a simple choice for me -SM7B

It's a "tough as nails" dynamic mic that, simply put, sounds great for most applications (most people love it on vocals!)

It will cost you around $350, but if you take good care of it you can always get allot of your initial investment back, as they've always had good resale value -but I seriously doubt that you'll ever want to sell it. Even when you decide to add other mics to your studio, you'll probably always want to hold on to your SM7B!!!

PS: Just be sure your mic preamp has at least 60db of clean gain to drive it (there are plenty of decent sounding mic pres or audio interface' for around $200 that do)
