ProFire 2626 troubleshoot

Hi there,

This is my first post so be gentle.

I purchased the M-Audio Pro-Fire 2626 roughly this time last year so I could record 8 channels simultainiously in Pro Tools M-Powered. I have a dual boot computer with the macintosh OSX and Windows Vista 64bit.

The profire works absolutely fine with Mac, but with windows, I can manage to scrape about 3 seconds of really poor audio quality before the playback stops (all music players) all together.

I have tried multiple things to solve the problem such as the latest drives, different firewire ports, different firewire cables and no success.

I was hoping someone would be able to give me a solution to my problem, or at least point me in the right direction.

ps. I have a PCi firewire card (not sure if this makes any difference but I have seen this posted on other firewire interface problems)

Update drivers, contact customer support. Do u have the ti chip?

I doubt it's an OS issue seems hardware to me

You may also want to try using the legacy firewire driver in vista:

1. Go to device manager
2. Right click your FW card and choose update driver
3. Choose pick driver from a list
4. Choose the driver that has "Legacy" in brackets after it
5. Reboot
6. You may also need to re-install your m-audio drivers after this. (make sure you uninstall them completely first)

Also, as stated above, having a TI chipset FW card helps A LOT.
If all else fails, try the dpc latency checker to see if there is any background software causing problems.
