Opinion on JBL Control 10 monitors

Hi everyone, I 'd like to share with me your opinions about JBL's Control 10 monitor. This is a link to it http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/Control_10.pdf
I 'm looking forward to upgrade my monitor system (currently Fostex PM0.5 nearfields) and I 've come across to these monitors that I can purchase for under 400 Euros. If someone onwed them and can share his opinion would be great. My control room is aprox 3,8m X 4,3m and 3 meters hight. Do you know if these monitors would be very big for such a room?
Thank's everybody in advance and forgive me for my poor english

Hi George,

I have not listenend to JBL Control 10 monitors, but I own a pair of JBL 4301b Control monitors that I like very much. I believe all the Control series were designed for use in radio/television control rooms and are thus suitable for smaller rooms. The JBL sound is often called "West Coast" (whatever that means) but the monitors I have are quite accurate and perhaps little clinical. For just sitting back and listening I prefer more musical speakers, but for analyzing a mix, give me my JBLs everytime. The Control 10s are a newer speaker than my 4301b's but I assume the design philosophy would be similar. If you do purchase them, let us know what you think!

West coast sound = hyped bass and treble.
East coast sound = no bass or treble.
hehhehhehhehheh

Companies like Advent, Allison, KLH and others were also located at one time on the East coast and JBL, Altec and others were at one time based on the West coast.

Those are the extreme examples.
