Live sample triggering in a band.

Hi guys,

My band are looking to incorporate live sample triggering into our set.
We're mostly looking to put in some sub drops from our drummer, and maybe a few reverse cymbals.
We've been told to get a drum pad, but we're not sure how to actually get the sounds from the pad to the PA and how to hook it up etc..?

Any knowledge on this subject would be great, thanks a lot!

What most people use these days are a laptop hooked up to a midi-controller (keyboard, drumpad etc.) of some sort, and let different buttons on the midi-surface trigger samples in a DAW. The laptop is then connected to the PA. You can set this up in lots of different ways and it all depends on what products you are using so its hard for me to go into detail. Anyways, a midi-controller and a laptop with a DAW (I have heard great stuff about ableton live for these situations) are stuff I would look into first. When you've decided on what to get, I dont think it will be to hard to find out exactly how to go about it in the manuals.

Good luck!

Take the Main Outs from the Drum Module or Sound Module you are using. Run them to a DI Box and then run the DI Box to the Stage Box or Split that goes to Front of House.

Good luck!
