I've got the same resolution I have every year, buy as little as possible. I only buy when a paying gig requires it so most if not all the investment is paid off within a few weeks. May be too sensible and un-slutty but it's the realities of trying to run a business.

Luckily I'm not too lusty but if I do fall off the waggon it's always for a mic

Exact opposite : buy as much as I possibly can for my needs...

Starting with an ATB32 console.

Then 2 more preamps ( a OneQ and a 610mkII, I have both already and I just want one extra of each ), a couple compressors ( 1176 preferably )... and a place to put all of that in, in a decent organized way. Probably the toughest part...

Just got myself an Audient 2802 sold my Trident 65. That will stop GAS for a while. The Audient is definitely a great little desk. I am so convinced of the quality I'll probably get myself an audient black series rack system with some Black EQ and Comp. Else I'll probably bite the bullet and upgrade my Pro Tools System in the end of the year. I am on PPC Pro Tools 7 HD2, so that means - new mac, magma chassis, Pro Tools 9, complete re-install of all software - Oh the pain!

That Audient desk looks pretty sweet. That's why it's on my small console shortlist...

My list would be this
1 Mesa 4x12 Rec cab , which I will be buying today = I can't stand my 5150 cab !!! shrill city
2 Either the Barefoots or Adam sx3-H's
3 later on I'll do a try out with and SSL G comp and the API 2500 plus a few others if possible and see if it is really needed vs my ITB stuff
4 more mics , a set of KM 184's ,Beta 52 , the new beta 91 (I have an obsession with Kick drum mics)
5 Some additional preamps either the BAE 1073 or Neve 1073 DPA

This should be good and plenty

hell no!

No way I'm cutting gear from the budget this year! Rent, food, gas, maybe...

The top of my list is upgrading my mic preamp. Running an ART MP V3 now… my mic is a Blue Bottle Rocket Stage 1, so I’m thinking of keeping it pure and going the way of the Robbie. I'll probably waiver, choose something else, and go back to the Robbie just before laying out the green. And I'll be asking for your help once we get closer....

I currently have the B8 and B7 bottlecaps for the mic... and I'll be expanding that collection as well hopefully. In order, I'll go B6 ("larger than life vox"), B0 (vox), B2 (Ribbon), B5 (Acoustic guitar), and B3 (neutral)

Then again, that order will probably change too...

Building a bass cab box under the stairs, so I can have 4 isolation spaces! Just got my RMX16 going, and only 2 mics are down at the moment (67/4033).
Wiring up my 3rd rack space, and re-capping the master section of my D&R today.
But what I most want to acquire this year is the ablity to write a totally awesome tune!!!!!
(but if I land a big mult-week session, just maybe take a couple 1073LBs!!!!)

4 - 1073LB

Theoretically, more services, less equipment.

Translation: finishing projects and paying mastering engineers to put on the shine. Also after 20 years or so since my last lesson it's time for some new lessons to get my playing off a plateau.

In reality, there will be plenty of equipment and software, too. But more need-driven, I hope. And less "I read about it on the forum" driven.

2008-2010 has been a bit crazy so I'd like to focus more on the music in 2011. Still, I started the new year ordering the two last 1081 modules for my 8 way rack plus a second Coles 4038 ribbon. Then, I'm lusting for two new channels of Chandler comps and a Mac Pro to finally be able to update ProTools.

I plan to buy as little gear as possible this year.
I'm trying to save up for a new mixer next year and I might buy a house this year.
I might buy the new Little Labs Redeye phantom DI/Reamp thingy though...

I resolve to stop buying guitars, 15 now, all really nice .... I'm like a moth to a light in a guitar shop.

Can't get excited about recording kit in the same way ... it's mostly digital and just tools for the job.

(Though on 1st Jan upgraded to Sonar X1 Producer)

Well, there is finally a stopgap for me. I just picked up a pcm80(not very popular here)to go with my Eclipse; that rounds out my effects options. GAS has had to come to a screeching halt for me because any improvements to my gear would entail 2K+ investments for every item that could be upgraded and that would mean dealing with credit card debt, which in this economy is something that many of us would like to avoid. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! thumbsupthumbsup

Denny

p.s. I'll be hanging out--- but just drooling...lot's of good stuff out there. Well, maybe there's possibly a couple of lower cost items that I will be able to squeeze in.
