Guitar amp head in the live room?

When recording a guitarist in the live room with other musicians, I like to isolate the amp/speaker cab in another room. Question is: is it best to keep the head in the live room with the guitarist, with a shorter signal chain and 'load' on the pickups running a longer speaker cable to the cab in the other room? any other ideas?

Keep the head in the room with the guitar player and run speaker cable to the cab in an iso room. I have all of my heads in a big rack in the control room and all my cabs wired to wall plates in different rooms.
