Yamaha O2R96 --- next console to get ??? Consoles

Yamaha O2R96 --- next console to get ???

I currenly have a O2R96 ver 2 console. I was wonder what you think the NEXT console i should move to should be. I have about a $20k budget and i am not apposed to used gear. This is my first post on here so thank you all in advance !!!!

I would get an analog console. Maybe a used Audient ASP8024?

What about any of the used AMEK boards that i have been seeing? Any impressions ??

I only have experience with the Amek BIG. It isn't bad. I never used the automation system, nor the "virtual dynamics" (computer controlling channel VCA's for dynamics processing). These days, I'd go for something "clean," with preferably no VCA's at all.

You might also consider one of the new Toft or Trident boards, especially is you're doing mostly rock.

The Big has some great "mojo" when driven in the mic pres, and I found the virtual dynamics to be close in sound to the dbx160a, which is great in that you get one for each channel.

Tofts are cool as heck too.

Used Tridents can cost just as much to recap as you buy them for.

What about the Audient 4816? $15,000 new. 16 channel inline, which translates to more than 32 channels at mixdown...
