Here for the gear

the ultimate set-up

Hi all,

being quite a newbie in the music production game i was wondering whether i could ask for some suggestions here..

i've got a akai s5000, roland xp80, studiomaster mixer, rode nt2 mic and a turntable to record samples.

all this stuff has recently been dusted off and im looking for the best way to start producing again.

right now i havent got a pc. i was wondering if i need one?
also been looking at the mpc series, would that be a handy asset in this setup?

what i particularly would like to ask is with my things:
- what soundcard should my new-to-purchase pc have?
- is the mpc a handy extra machine or would you stick to s5000? is one sampler enough?

i wanna produce some hiphop..

thanks in advance, cause there's an overkill of choices......
