Old Timer vs. MixPressor2 ?

hiza,
has anyone spent a bit of time with these and be able to tell me if the OT is different than MP2? if they sound basically the same i'll prolly pick up The Glue. And while we're here... how is The Glue different than MP2 .... or OT?

thanks!

Here for the gear

I can't speak for MixPressor2, but have used OT quite a bit - it's a killer quick and dirty comp, in that you can get it loaded and tuned very quickly. Slap it on a track and go. imho it sounds great, definitely has personality.

I don't know that it's fair to compare it against Glue though. With Glue you're getting a lot more control, attack, release, parallel, sc etc. -- I use Glue more frequently on the buss or 2-channel.

Think they're both great, but in this corner they're definitely different tools for different jobs.

thanks pork chop, so then i guess OT is more transparent since its a 2-bus sim...
anyone else for MP2 comparisons to OT please?
and/or The Glue?

cheers, j

I don't think Mixpressor2 compares to either one... it's not a model but it's own thing. In fact, there's a good argument to be made to have all 3 of the plugs since they're all designed to do different things, and each has controls the others lack.

Glue competes with Waves and UAD SSL models. Old Timer is more like an LA4 (but not much - really unique - agree with Porkchop). Mixpressor is ideal for instruments, sound shaping, and really killer for sound design work. All different tools.
