question for h8000fw & ensemble users

recently got the awesome h8000fw and currently have it hooked up via firewire as part of an aggregate device alongside the apogee ensemble. i am using the eventide via logic as either inserts or bus sends with the i/o plug so it's all digital (not using any of other digital or analog inputs/outputs currently... just fw). my questions is, with this configuration do i need to connect word clock bnc cables between the h8000fw and the ensemble? i ask because when running at 96k sample rates, i'm getting intermittent cracks and pops. when i reboot logic they go away temporarily but eventually return. i've searched for the answer to this here, in the manual and on the eventide forums but can't find anything specific to this situation. anyone have experience with this?

thanks in advance.
